Elizabeth learned to read through her parents' love of literature and her fascination with a story being told through pictures and words jumping from a book page. Every night before she went to bed when she was young, she craved the six minutes she was given to read whatever she wanted. She raided her bookshelves looking for another adventure to dive into to before she was forced to put her books down and turn off the lights. Whenever possible, Elizabeth would go to the Chippewa River District Library with her parents. She would pick out ten books at a time based off the beautiful cover artwork since she couldn't completely read yet. Her parents would shake their heads and say, "Pick two. We'll be back soon." People read to spark something within them. It ignites imaginations and takes people on extraordinary adventures they didn't even think were possible. Reading fiction, fantasy, biographies, non-fiction, whatever it is, gives people some sort of knowledge they didn't have before. It can take you to a whole different world you have never experienced and can be so much fun if you are given the right book to suit your needs. Reading is easiest for Elizabeth when she is in a quiet, comfortable space that doesn't give off many distractions. When she can bury herself into the text of her book, the words start to fly off the page and start a movie in her head that flows like it's being performed right in front of her eyes. The hardest part of reading for Elizabeth is when she comes across concepts and words that are new and unfamiliar to her. When words start to not form sentences that are coherent to what she is used to, it throws her off and makes her slow down to try to recreate the movie-like image in her head. Being sucked into a terrific book and then having to stop and form what is happening can be really frustrating. Elizabeth takes her daily life and opinions into mind when she is looking for a good book to read. She loves realistic fiction novels and being able to picture a story in her head that is possible for her to actually do. Elizabeth reads at home whenever she can. Although she is very busy with various activities, she attempts to sit down with a book every other night before bed, between dance classes, or on the weekend. Elizabeth feels that reading is a very important part of life and brings a whole new level of imagination to the table. She loves to be imaginative and reading gives her one more way to spark her creativity. Reading can bring out so many different emotions in people and can help you develop thoughts and opinions you didn't know you had before.
Elizabeth learned to write at a very young age due to sheer curiosity. She loved to have her parents tell her stories before she went to bed and would make up stories to pictures in books before she knew how to read. Since both of her parents are teachers, she would beg them to find old notebooks at school from students that she could use to fill with stories. Even before she knew how to write, she would draw pictures on various pieces of paper and then staple them together. She would run up to her parents or drag her brother from his toys to sit down and tell them all the amazing adventures the Hart Family had. (Of course- the pictures showed that the Hart family was indeed shaped like hearts and had a mother, father, and three children.) Her passion for writing prospered even more once she knew how to spell and learned that she too, could write books like all the authors of her favorite bedtime stories. People write for many reasons: To show fondness, to recreate a scene, or just to vent about the days activities to a pen and paper. The possibilities are endless! In order to write well, Elizabeth believes that one needs to know where their writing is going and where the writer wants the reader to end up. Writers should write with purpose and not hold back their thoughts. Since Elizabeth loves realistic fiction novels to read, she also loves to create them herself. She loves to write about experiences she's personally had in life and she loves to find new ways to express description. Although she does not like to read fantasy novels, she does enjoy writing them. Her ideas come from all of her surroundings. A person could walk a certain way on the street and it could become a whole story. Or someone could say something funny that day in math class and she would turn it into a grand novel about who that person is that said such a funny joke. Elizabeth finds constructive criticism to be the best way help her perfect her writing. She loves to hear when she is on the right path and also loves to hear suggestions as to what others as the readers would like to hear. Knowing what the readers want more and less of is very important to her because she doesn't want her audience to be bored by her work. Elizabeth writes at home every day. She loves to text and tell stories to her friends through her phone, social media, and the occasional note passing in class. She writes down notes to remind her of things and if she hears something really brilliant, she doesn't hesitate to write it down for future inspiration. Elizabeth believes that her writing has grown throughout the years and can never be at its peak. People never stop learning, therefor people never stop improving. She loves to find new ways to share and express her feelings through writing and hopes that her imagination can take her to create even better pieces of writing as she gets older and expands her writing career.
