This week in AP Literature and Composition we began to look at the genre tragedy. At first, I was very overwhelmed by the idea of having to consistently do a tragedy blog and closely analyze tragedy as a whole. I have been learning about tragedy in school since we began looking at different genres. It is a genre I have never completely understood though. By taking the time to sit down and listen to different discussions and read various articles on the subject, I feel much more confident in my ideas of what tragedy is.
During the first tragedy blog post I was completely and utterly lost. I sat in front of my computer staring at the screen trying to pull something, anything from my brain. Once I started typing and just putting down my thoughts, feelings, and reactions to the day's lesson, I began to understand it much more. I now find the blog posts much easier to understand and I to a point, enjoy doing them. I find that when I connect aspects of tragedy to stories I know, I understand it more. For our tragedy blogs we are required to include a picture that relates to our blog discussion. I have come up with the idea of using various Disney movies as my examples for tragedy. I like the idea of using examples from popular movies that people have seen because it makes the concepts more fun and interesting to the common audience. I also enjoy hunting for different Disney movies to connect my thoughts to. It helps me fully understand what I am trying to get across to my audience.
Now that I have a better idea of what tragedy is and what I am supposed to be looking for throughout our class lessons, I am much more confident in my thoughts and ideas in regards to the genre. I included a picture of various Disney movies because it is one of the parts of my tragedy blogs that I am the most proud of. I am proud of my connections to Disney movies and tragedies because I believe it helps me and the people that read my blog better understand tragedy concepts.
