This week in AP Literature and Composition I learned about managing my time between two different poems. We also started our Shakespeare unit where students were required to choose between Macbeth and King Lear to focus on. I chose to focus on the play Macbeth. I have seen the play put on my students at our high school so I thought it would be a good reference to have when reading the actual play.
Something that was different this week compared to the last trimester was that for our poem of the week essays, we were required to analyze two poems and manage our time between writing about two different works. Although the poems were related, it was still a lot harder to have the time to write about two different poems in the amount of time that I'm used to writing only about one. I think it will get easier to write about two poems as we practice every week, but for now it is pretty challenging.
I like that in AP Literature and Composition I am always learning something new whether it be time management, how to present something, or a way to better analyze a piece of literature. I know we are preparing ourselves for the AP test at the end of the school year, but I am using the tools as something for my future in college. I have heard from friends of mine who have taken AP Literature and Composition in the past that they took a lot from the class with them to college; Especially tools related to writing essays. I am excited to expand my knowledge and skill to write essays as the year continues.
